Geofencing Entry + Exit Alerts and Analytics

The Challenge

Keeping track of assets and recording their journey from one location to another requires highly accurate, reliable, and available location tracking equipment and backend software technology. It’s not enough to simply capture and record asset GPS heartbeats, the solution must tap into other modern tracking techniques to capture asset location in real-time or close to real-time, even when GPS fails. It is also crucial to aggregate these heartbeats with data essential for after the fact analytics (e.g., driver deviation logs, speed logs, asset vehicle transfers, asset hub checks, vehicle dwell times, etc.).

On the other hand, monitoring asset entry and exit events and recording the vehicle’s dwell time with regards to a place/facility (e.g., a shipping hub/warehouse including its parking lot, package pickup/dropoff location, or radius area surrounding a store) requires sophisticated geofencing services. This includes the ability to construct precise place/facility boundaries, complete extensive event data processing for real-time asset alerts, and track vehicle entry and events in a timely manner to process data for further analytic use.

The Solution
Woolpert designs and implements asset tracking and geofencing solutions, leveraging Google Maps Platform and mobility services for real-time or near real-time asset tracking and facility alerting. ETAs based on distance and duration are pinged on a timely basis and business-impacting events, such as delivery delays, vehicle route deviations, and route itinerary changes, are captured and alerted to all personas (e.g., internal operations, drivers, and consumers) as it happens.
