Business Challenge
RedZone Robotics builds robotic systems that inspect sewer and wastewater pipelines, generating large volumes of video and sensor data that help municipalities and utilities make informed infrastructure decisions.
As its data needs grew, managing workloads across multiple cloud platforms became increasingly complex and costly. RedZone wanted to consolidate its cloud footprint, streamline video processing pipelines, reduce data transfer costs, and lessen the DevOps resources required to maintain its infrastructure.
Benefits
- Simplified Cloud Operations: Google Cloud’s APIs, monitoring, and logging capabilities reduce code complexity and ongoing maintenance and debugging.
- Improved Efficiency: Automated storage retention policies help RedZone better manage growing data volumes and associated costs.
- Built to Scale: A consolidated Google Cloud environment provides the flexibility to support increasingly large, high-quality inspection datasets as RedZone grows.
“Our engagement with Woolpert has allowed our development team to stay on task with other directives while Woolpert did the majority of the lift in the background.”
Working With Woolpert
Introduced through the Google Cloud team, Woolpert brought the technical expertise needed to help RedZone expand its existing Google Cloud environment. Woolpert handled much of the infrastructure work behind the scenes, allowing RedZone’s development team to stay focused on its core products and other business priorities.
The Solution
RedZone expanded its use of Google Cloud with Cloud Storage for inspection data, Google Kubernetes Engine for application deployments, and Cloud SQL for database workloads.
Bringing more infrastructure into Google Cloud reduced the need to move massive video files between platforms, while native APIs, monitoring, and logging simplified development and ongoing maintenance.
